PAMELA PUCKETT -OWNER & ALL STAR CHEER DIRECTOR Sr. Level 5 & Team Coach
Founder and Owner of The Cheer Center. Currently coaches Sr. Level 5 & Jr. Level 1. With over 30 years in the industry Pam has led her program for Cheer and Dance to over 120 National Titles over the last 13 years. The Cheer Center has been featured, in various sections, 3 times in American Cheerleader Magazine. The Cheer Center was also featured in the American Cheerleader All Star Insider as one of 20 featured gyms in the country in 2005. Recently featured in Cheer Biz Magazine, showcasing our new facility!
Pam began her coaching career after a 3 year position as a Summer Camp Instructor for Golden Eagle Cheer and Pom Camps. She moved on over the years to become a Camp Administrator and Regional Director for ECA. She began coaching with a PW School Rec program and then was asked to help with a high school program. She took over the program at Teays Valley H.S. and coached there until 1990, acquiring 3 National Titles along the way with the Varsity Squad and was named Coach of the Year 3 times at various Ohio competitions.
Pam then became the Assistant Director for All American Cheer and Dance Hawaii Performance Tour. This involved the selection of talented individuals from across the country to perform in an Individual Cheer and Dance Competition for college scholarship prizes. This included the performance in the halftime show, which Pam assisted in Choreography, at events such as the Pro Bowl, Hula Bowl, and Aloha Bowl. Other events that All American assisted were the Cotton Bowl and the Macy's Thankgiving Day Parade, which involved Dancers as well as cheerleaders.
Pam over this same time period began working with many local schools as a Tumbling Coach and assisting with choreography for competitions. She is currently the Head Cheerleading Coach at Grove City H.S., going into her 4th season.
Judging at local, state, and National Competitions was a very huge part of her career having judged for many companies, such as: American Championships, NCA High School Nationals, COA, ECA, All Star Challenge, Atlantic Cheer & Dance, Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsyvania, and Florida State Championships, and many local competitions.
Pam has been a designated Speaker at many Coaches Conferences over the last 5 years, such as American All Star Coaches Conf., Power Consulting Coaches Conference, COA, and Americheer. She has served on many Focus Group panels sponsored by the cheer companies.
Pam started the first team at The Cheer Center in 1997 and has coached many teams to National Titles and has coached the Senior Level 5 team at the World's Competition the past 3 years!
She is a USASF member and is Credentialed through Level 5. She has been CPR , Sports Med and First aid certified.
Pam is nicknamed "Pam Positive" and will continue to bring a positive attitude to all that she coaches. GO STARS!
CHARITY CORDES - Junior 3 & Sr. 5 Team Coach
Charity Cordes has been a loyal team member and coach at The Cheer Center. She currently coaches the Junior & Senior Teams. She has been Coaching teams at the gym for the past 8 years and has been a tumbling instructor for 10 years. She taught summer camps at the gym for 4 years.
Charity is also USASF Credentialed through Level 5, CPR and First aid certified.
Her background includes 5 years of school cheerleading and 3 years of All Star cheering at The Cheer Center. She participated in the 2001 All American Cheer & Dance Hawaii Performance Tour at the ProBowl and participated in the AACD Scholarship Competition, where she won 1st place and a college scholarship of $5000. She then attended The Ohio State University where she graduated in 2006 with a Major in Human Development and Family Science. She is married and has 2 children.
Charity has also judged at various levels of competition and does team and individual choreography as well.
Nick Vasques-Sr. Level 5 & Sr. Level 2 Coach
Nick has been coaching tumbling for 8 years. He comes from a competitive gymnastics background and a world famous cheerleading background. Nick started his cheerleading career on Celebrity All-stars. He finished his cheerleading career with the WORLD CHAMPION program of the Topgun All-stars in Miami Florida. He has trained along side many other world champion teams and athletes and has truly been coached by the TOP cheerleading coaches in the world. Nick has also been apart of programs such as 2010 world champion program of Kentucky Elite, and assistant coached the 2009 bronze medalist squad of Ice All-stars in Indiana.
He has been an All-star coach for 4 years and excels at being a well rounded cheerleader and coach allowing him to really focus in on any area of the sport at any level. Nick is extremely enthusiastic and passionate about this sport and his wide range of experience and knowledge is sure to be a great addition to the Cheer Center Family. He is currently a full time student at Ohio State getting his Hospitality management and business degrees.
JUSTIN THOMAS - Advanced Tumbling Coach
Justin Thomas is currently in his 6th year of coaching at The Cheer Center. He is our advanced tumbling instructor for all of our teams. He has been teaching tumbling at the gym for 9 years. Justin has completed his testing and is USASF Credentialed through Level 5.
Justin cheered at The Ohio State University for 2 years where he graduated in 2007 with a major in Interior Design. While in college, he was a COA camp instructor and judge for 2 years and has taught summer camps at The Cheer Center for 2 years.
Justin's past experience includes 5 years of high school cheer, 3 years of all star cheer and 2 years at OSU. He also participated in the All American Cheer & Dance Hawaii Performance Tour in 2001 at the Pro Bowl and competed in the Individual Competition where he placed in the top 5 and won college scholarship money.
ALY KLISE- Junior 3, Senior 2 & Youth 1 Cheer Coach
Aly is in her second year of coaching. She participated in our All Star Program for 10 years. She cheered for one year at Kent State University and now is attending The Ohio State University where she also cheered one year on the OSU All Girl Competitive Cheer Squad. In her first year of coaching she lead her team to many first place finishes including; Cheersport Grand Champion, Cheerpower National Champions and received the Cheorography award.
Matt Mowery-Youth Level 1, Mini Level 2 & Tiny Cheer
Matt is entering his fifth year of coaching and sixth year of instructing tumbling at The Cheer Center. He currently coaches Tiny Cheer, Mini Cheer, and Youth Cheer and teaches novice, intermediate, and advanced tumbling. Matt has been with the gym for seven years and has coached various teams to National Champion and Grand Champion titles including Mini Cheer at Jamfest Super Nationals in 2007.
Matt’s past experience includes 10 years of gymnastics, 5 years of all star cheerleading, including 2 years at The Cheer Center, and 3 years in individuals. In 2004, he participated in Hot Shots camp in Miami, Florida with various World Champion teams such as Georgia All Stars, World Cup, and Top Gun.
Matt graduated from The Ohio State University in 2010 with a degree in Interior Product Development. While in college, he competed on international open teams from world-renowned gyms such as ICE All Stars and Kentucky Elite.
Matt has also judged for various cheer and dance companies. He worked as an AmeriCheer summer camp instructor and has been teaching summer camps at The Cheer Center for 3 years. Matt choreographs routines for individuals, schools, and all star teams and has received various choreography awards.
CORTNEY GRAY -Mini Level 2 Coach
Cortney Gray is currently the coach of the Mini Level 2 Team at The Cheer Center, where she has been coaching for 8 years. She has coached from Tiny cheer to Senior Level 3. She has won several National Titles and Grand Champions including Mini Cheer Level 2 National Champs at Jamfest 2007 and Grand Champ.
Cortney is currently a Senior at Ohio University Chillicothe planning to major in Education. Her past experience includes high school cheerleading and competition, 3 years All Star at The Cheer Center, 8 years tumbling coach and 4 years summer camp instructor.
ANGELA HILL - Tiny Level 1 & Mini Level 2 Coach
Angela is a coach for our Tiny Level 1 Team & Mini Level 2 team. She has 4 years of school cheerleading and competition gymnastics expereince. She is very active in all the details to prepare the team and parents for Competition. This is her third year with our Tiny Level 1 team. In in the last two years, she lead our Tiny Level 1 team to 2 COA National Champs, Cheer Power National Champs and many other 1st place finishes.
JALENE WATKINS- Special Needs Team Coach
Jalene is in her 3nd year as our Special Needs Coach. She is currently employed by Columbus Public Schools as an assistant in the Special Needs Program.
MELANIE HUBER- Special Needs Team Coach
Melanie is a coach for our Special Needs Team. She is a teacher in the Columbus Public schools where she also teaches Special Needs Students.
